West Publishing

As a usually passive observer of the list (I'm not a law librarian) I have
read with amazement the constant abuse that West Publishing takes. My
organization is also a provider of information, we host a very extensive
website of Latin American Legal information as well as publish a number of
studies related to Trade and Investment throughout the Western Hemisphere.
If we even came close to making the errors, the lack of returned phone
calls, sending materials without approval, etc. that West supposedly does,
we would be out of business in a matter of weeks. This leads into my
question:

Is West really that bad?, If so, isn't there any other source for this type
of information? Is it a case of "corporate" not doing what the sales reps
(who talk to the clients) say is necessary?

I quess I'm just curious. I am new to the information game and can't
belive some of the things that seem to go on in our "information age". DSM
