We all have heard recently about publishers shipping companion and lite materials without our permission, but my experience today goes further than anything I could imagine.
I just received a box from Lexis Law Publishing. Box looked rather unusual in size and weight, not like a typical LLP shipment. Attached to it was a UPS tracking label as well as a battered looking envelope with an invoice.
The invoice is for volume 128 of United States Supreme Court reports, Lawyers Edition, which is a product we have a subscription to.
As I opened the box, what did I see but a brand new video -still wrapped in cellophane- of Disney's "The Lion King II, Simba's Pride!" It has a sticker from CVS drugstores for $19.95 on it, but nothing else to identify where it came from. Maybe I need to ask LLP to refund me the difference between the difference between the price ($48.50) of the Lawyers Edition Volume and the price of the video :)
I went to the UPS website and used the tracking number on the box, and sure enough, the box came from Charlottesville, VA, where LLP is based.
This is so absurd, that I am not even going to worry about calling LLP and trying to figure it out. If anyone from LLP contacts me, fine, otherwise my wife who teaches kindergarten just got a new video for her class.
This was too good to pass up.
thanks
