For the benefit of anyone who failed to save the welcome message they
received on subscribing, here is a copy. It contains a lot of useful
information, including that on archiving of old messages.

I'll update the archive information by noting that law-lib, along with
scores of other legally-oriented discussion groups, is also archived in a
more-easily searchable format through Legalminds, http://www.legalminds.com

======================================
Welcome to list LAW-LIB (law-lib@ucdavis.edu). The system has recorded
your address as

                        lawson@netlawtools.com

and it is required that you send your postings from that address, unless the
list does not require subscription for posting. (Most UCD lists do not.)

The list's owner(s) is lawlist@ucdavis.edu .

You should contact them if there are any problems.

Please do not send requests to this list; instead direct them to:

                        listproc@ucdavis.edu

To get more information on how to use this service, please send the command
HELP in a line by itself in a mail message to listproc@ucdavis.edu.

To signoff from the list, email to listproc@ucdavis.edu with the following
request:

                signoff LAW-LIB
or
                unsubscribe LAW-LIB

Here is a summary of some of the commands you can use on the
law-lib listproc mailing list:

Two ways of removing yourself from the specified list.

*Retrieving archived mail:*

index law-lib
----------------------------------------------------
Get a list of files in the law-lib archive.

get law-lib <file> [parts]
----------------------------------------------------------
Get the requested file from the law-lib archive. Files are usually split in
parts locally, and in such a case you will receive the file in multiple email
messages -- an 'index' request tells you how many parts the file has been
split
into, and their sizes; if you need to obtain certain parts, specify them as
optional arguments.

All law-lib mail is archived and retrievable via the listproc. All mail
for a given month will be saved in a file called [monthYear] such as
feb94. To see a listing of all files available, request 'index law-lib';
to retrieve a particular file, request 'get law-lib <monthYear>' as
displayed by the index request.

Older archived mail is also available via anonymous ftp from
ftp.ucdavis.edu:/archive/law-lib-archive
