Nancy:
What I consider sufficient is the Thomson & Thomson "full search." It
includes US trademarks, state TMs (usually geographically limited),
internet domain names, common law. T&T has an extensive database of
busienss directories, so they run the search against lots of sources we
just can't access, like yellow pages, and directories in specific
industries (e.g., advertising).
The Internet especially needs to be checked; sometimes the client will
want/need to have a web site with the same name as the trademark to have
brand identity. At least in technology subjects.
If you check out the T&T web site, www.thomson-thomson.com, you probably
will be able to have that info without a password.
