Lecturer Ian Malkin wrote a very good article, in the University Of
Melbourne Law Review, on the topic of AIDS in prisons - and the potential
liability in tort of governments and/or prison authorities for failing to
take reasonable steps to prevent it being contracted. The article examined,
inter alia, Australian, Canadian, UK and USA authorities. As I am no longer
employed at that University I do not have the citation handy, but it
certainly was during the period I was at the University - ie between
October 1995 and October 1998. Perhaps some Australian List-Member might
care to post the exact title and citation. It is a very good article
indeed.
