web ordering

I agree, a publisher web site allowing ordering is worth a lot in terms of
saved time and aggravation.

case in point from this morning and still continuing: I am trying to order
a book from Foundation Press. Went to ACQWEB to link. First page of the
site doesn't have address, phone number, or a link for an order form (which
does not exist anyway.) Possible links are to the catalog, bookstore
orders, and examination copies. Found the book in the catalog, sans price,
sans order procedure, sans phone number. Finally found the phone number
under "examination copies." I called. We're playing phone tag.

I could have had the order placed an hour ago but instead I am waiting for
the order dept to call back.

We don't want much out of a good web site. just the basics:

contact information
name of book with author
web order form
prices.

I don't think that is too much to ask. I could have ordered this book from
Amazon.com but since it is a special order, it would have taken 4-6 weeks.
MAYBE. I have ordered special titles there before and never had to wait
that long.
