March 1, 1999 Deadline for AALL/Matthew Bender & Company Call for Papers Competition

The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) is now accepting submissions for its Call for Papers Competition. This annual awards program, which recognizes scholarly works relating to law librarianship, is sponsored by New York-based legal publisher Matthew Bender & Company.

Papers may be submitted on any subject pertaining to law librarianship and will be judged in three categories: the Open Division, for papers submitted by current AALL members who have been members for five or more years; the New Member Division, for individuals who have been AALL members for less than five years; and the Student Division, for members and non-members who are currently in library school or law school. No paper that has been published or accepted for publication before March 1, 1999 will be eligible for consideration.

The AALL/Matthew Bender & Company Call for Papers is a four-year program which began in 1996. Each year, three recipients will each receive a cash award of $750. Recipients will be recognized during award ceremonies at the Association Luncheon of the 92nd AALL Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. Co-authors of winning papers will share the award.

To be eligible for an award, submitted papers, together with all required supporting documents, must be postmarked by March 1, 1999, or received by March 8, 1999. Papers will be reviewed by the Call for Papers Committee. Application and submission guidelines can be obtained from AALL's Web site, AALLNET, at:
http://www.aallnet.org/services/application_call_for_papers.html or by calling AALL Headquarters at 312.939.4764.
