Here are the results from my inquiry.
The majority opinion is Access cannot hancle multiple entries in a single
field, does not have good search capability, has no preset library
modules and importing records into it is darn near impossible.
One person's opinion: "Access in inappropriate for library catalogs.
Period"
On the other hand, several people stated they used Access for all library
functions. One reported using Access for everything but the catalog for
which they used DBTextWorks, citing search capability as the reason.
Others liked Access for its availability and lack of licensing issues.
Obviously, responses are mixed. We will stay with DBTextWorks since
it's set up to handle all library functions. Importing all the files into another
database is one particular nightmare I don't want to address at this time.
