I am trying to obtain a letter Mary Schapiro, then chairperson of the CFTC,
sent to Reps. Bliley & Roberts.
The letter was dated 1/19/96 and dealt with the question whether swaps
constitute futures contracts. The letter also probably refers to a CFTC
enforcement action against Metallgesellschaft.
Calls to the CFTC public information & chairperson's offices have so far
been unavailing, as have calls to the recipients' offices. It's not in the
CCH Commodities set either.
I have a hunch that the FIA Weekly Bulletin may have published the letter.
If anyone is willing to check the week or two after 1/19/96 I would greatly
appreciate it.
