I have a faculty member who wants to know when 8 USC 41 and 42 became 42
USC 1981 and 1982. I thought this would be an easy question, but it isn't
because we're missing some superseded volumes. I think it happened
between 1946 and 1952. I've searched WL/Lx in every database I could think
of, plus all the federal statute volumes we have, including all the tables
volumes, plus treatises. The information I have is:
Act of May 31, 1870, Ch. 114 § 16, 16 Stat. 144, became RS 1977, became 8 USC 41,
became 42 USC 1981
Act of Apr. 9, 1866, Ch. 31, §1, 14 Stat. 27, became RS 1978, became 8 USC 42, became
42 USC 1982.
Thanks in advance for any help!
