Forgive me, Beth, but that's "Horwitz" with
one "o".
By policy, I never correct spelling an
another's e-mail (being such an atrocious
speller myself), but I'm making an exception
in this case because (1) anyone searching
for Lester's excellent forms treatise (or
others by him and his son Ethan) should know
the correct spelling, and (2) I know Lester
and Ethan personally and thought I owed it
to them.
I know that I have misspelled many words on
this list, and I thank all of you who
noticed and kept it to yourself. Thanks also
to Beth for sharing her summary; I hope she
doesn't mind my correction.

Here is a summary of responses I
received to my inquiry for a windows
based software for patent form
preparation.
One person reported that his firm has
just started using IP Legal Form
by LegalStar and that it has received
rave reviews from his firm's
paralegals. LegalStar's website is
www.legalstar.com.
A couple people suggested Matthew
Bender's Windows-based product
Authority Patent Interactive Drafting
System. It was released early
this summer and uses HotDocs to import
the forms from Horowitz's
Patent Office Rules books into Word or
other word processors.
One person reported that their firm had
tried it but found it too
cumbersome for the person using it and
so returned it.
One person had used Adobe Acrobat to
create fill-in-the-blank forms
based on USPTO PDF form files and said
that it does take some time to
get familiar with the procedure but
after that, the process is fairly
painless.
Thank you's go to Jeffrey J. Berns,
Charles Gibson, Mary Lou Calvin,
Randy Troxel and Candice Kennington for
their so prompt and very helpful
responses.
