I agree with everything Mary said except
that I, for one, like to see the "me too"
posts. It helps me gauge the consensus of
the profession. Still being relatively new
to law librarianship, I feel more confident
standing up to the Dark Tower if I know many
of my more experienced peers (not just one
or two) has already done so. There is
strength in numbers!

At the risk of being blowtorched, I offer
the following :

1. Last year when a publisher (anon. to
protect the guilty) sent multiple
copies of an update booklet, someone very
kindly *listed* all the titles to
watch for. That list was worth its weight
in gold electrons.

2. I have no problem with
succinct/summarized reports of rude
representatives if the complaint is stated
professionally for information
purposes, not as a long harangue. (Rarely a
problem here). This alerts
lurker publishers and anyone else who
encounters the rep.

3. BUT "me-too" posts really don't add
anything. A quick check to see
if someone already posted the same problem
title/situation never hurts.
_See_ 1. above.

4. Lastly, any rep solving a problem, or
publisher improving a procedure
or service deserves posted praise too.

vinegar.

Speaking for myself and, hopefully, not
offending anyone - but - I
must admit that I have spent way more time
reading through all of the
complaints on the multiple copies of the Tax
Restructuring Act than I
did in simply returning the copies that I
did not want to keep. This
list serv is a great way to help each other
out! Let's keep it that
way and not turn it into a forum for gripes.
