<< Jill,
I called West about that a week or two ago. I can't remember the name of
the person with whom I spoke, but I was told to call when I got the second one
and tell them I wanted to return it. She said I would probably be told to
keep or toss it since it wasn't worth sending back. So, the second one came
in to one of our satellite offices. The office manager called West. Of
course she didn't get the same person but she did get someone who told her to
send it back. When she asked for a call label, she was told we'd have to pay
for it ourselves since it was part of a subscription.

I did the same thing and got this very snide customer rep. named Debby (or
debbie) who argued with me and told me no one else had called to complaine
about it. When she told me I would have have to pay to send it back, I asked
to talked to a supervisor. She backed down and finally agreed to send me a
return free label.
I clearly object to her attempts to make me feel stupid because "of course I
should want both of these pamphlets because they went with the set." I told
her that next time they were doing a double whammy like this, they should
notify patrons before they sent both of them out. I think we care more about
our budgets than keeping sets together. That's when she said that no one else
had called West to complain. Glad you verified that she was a liar.
I also mentioned that I thought West had done something like this before
(something about scientific evidence) and got a lot of flak from it, but did
not quite remember all the details. Seems they do not learn.
What made the whole episode so objectionable what their attitude; they were
doing you a one time only favor by allowing you a return free label for
something they should have never sent in the first place and you were just not
too bright for not keeping these sets together.
Leaves a bad taste in your mouth; but what else is new when dealing with the
lords of the dark tower. I wonder if they are teaching and encouraging the
serfs and minions to argue now to keep profits up.
