I agree with most of this, but would add that we would like them to
asterisk and note the items that are subscriptions. They used to do
this. Personally, I prefer the order of the items the way they are
because it is easy to match the reference numbers.

RE: ANNUAL BILLING FROM WEST PUBLISHING

In response to Jim Mumm's email about contacting West to encourage annual
billing, I emailed Mary Ellen Marlowe with my suggestions, not only for
annual billing, but to advocate changes in their invoices. Ms. Marlowe
called me and wanted to hear my thoughts.

Ms. Marlowe is pushing for annual billing, but it will take some time. West
is apparently in the process of choosing a new computer system. It may be
that annual billing would get off to a slow start, with a few titles at a
time. I'm all for annual billing, but in the meantime, I had suggested
changes to the invoices: alphabetize the invoice, have the abbreviation on
the invoice match the abbreviation on the packing slip (they used to but
don't anymore), and include the INNOPAC order number. She said it is
possible for them to include the order number, and I will be sending her a
list. They are also increasing the number of characters in the title and
product descriptor field from 20 to 80.

If you are at all interested in seeing changes made in the invoices or in
annual billing, please contact her by email at:
