Hello:
_A Legal Publishers' List: The Shape of Legal Publishing Today_
<http://www.Colorado.EDU/Law/lawlib/ts/legpub.htm>,
has been updated to reflect the completion of Reed Elsevier's acquisition
of Matthew Bender and the other 50% of Shepard's.
The five major "families" of U.S. legal publishers have now been reduced
to four. Three corporations, all based outside of the U.S.,
control the majority of the U.S. legal information market.
Thank you very much to Holley M. Thompson of Lexis-Nexis, who confirms
that Reed Elsevier is placing Bender and Shepard's under the Lexis-Nexis
umbrella, alongside its other major US. legal publishing subsidiaries.
I've reflected this at:
http://www.Colorado.EDU/Law/lawlib/ts/legpub.htm#lexis .
Thompson stresses, though, that this arrangement could possible change in
the future.
Thanks also to Bev Agnew of the University of Colorado Law Library, for
helping to confirm this information.
Please let me know if you have questions or suggestions.
