General Position Responsibilities: Pierce County Law Library is organized pursuant to RCW 27.24. Under the direction of the Pierce County Law Library Board of Trustees, the director plans, develops, promotes and directs the operations of the library.

The director will be responsible for planning for enhanced library services due to the loss within one year of a major academic law library from the community. The director will also be responsible for garnering additional funding for the library.

Education and Competencies Required: Master's degree in Library Science from an accredited institution required. Law degree from an accredited institution preferred. Additional experience as a professional librarian with significant experience in law library administration required. Knowledge of current law library service, organization, procedures, equipment and technologies, including library computer applications to enhance library administration and services is required. Also required are strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with the general public.

Salary Range: $30,000 to $45,000 per year; generous benefits package.

The County: Pierce County is located between Thurston County, location of the state capitol, and King County to the north, location of the state's largest city, Seattle. The population of Pierce County is 686,000. The library serves the research needs of the residents of the county, a bar of over 1000, and over 30 judges.
