Computer /Technical Services Law Librarian
Qualifications: A Masters Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited university and two years professional experience appropriate to the position, or an equivalent combination of education and job related experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Preferred: Strong research and computer skills, familiarity with Novell LANs, integrated library systems, word processing, file management and operating systems (DOS and Windows), considerable experience troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and software, knowledge of web page maintenance and the internet (FTP, Telnet, TCP/IP, Email, Internet Browsers, and HTML). Knowledge of legal literature. A strong service orientation, electronic research experience, and good oral and communication skills.
Essential Functions: This position requires a self-motivated, creative librarian to assist in administering and maintaining electronic resources and systems in the library. This includes acting as liaison to the Wyoming Supreme Court Automation Department and the Wyoming State Library Automation Systems and Services Office, maintaining staff and public PC software and hardware, and maintaining the law library's web page and Internet-based resources. The person in this position is also responsible for the basic processing of library materials as they arrive and recording payment information as warrants are issued. In addition, this position requires participation in traditional reference desk services (3-3 1/2 hours per day) including responding to in-person and telephone requests from patrons and assisting with public and staff training on the use of the law library's computer applications.
Starting Salary: $30,000

The Wyoming State Law Library, a division of the Wyoming Supreme Court, is a public law library serving the citizens, bench, and bar of the State of Wyoming. The library is located in Cheyenne, Wyoming, a town of 57,000 near to the activities offered in metropolitan Denver, Colorado, as well as to many outdoor recreational sites. The library has 3 full time staff members and a collection of approximately 90,000 volumes. The law library participates in a statewide PAC under the auspices of the Wyoming State Library but is in the process of transferring all acquisitions and serials records into its own system (GLAS).
