Within the last week someone posted asking for comments/suggestions re
ILLs/doc delivery for the Anaheim meeting. Here goes: :)
These suggestion apply primarily to law school/university libraries.
1. Have your complete snail mail address on your website.
2. Have your complete phone number on your website. Including the area
code, please! Fax number also.
3. Post your policies/charges for doing ILLs/document delivery for
non-student, non-faculty outside requests on your website.
These are very basic pieces of information that should be on virtually
every library's page....but, quite often, are not.
Some institutions are very with-it, even going so far as to have their
ILL forms on the web --to fill out and submit online (whatta concept!!:)
or print out and fax to them.
Lebanon Valley College posts all relevant ILL info, even including their
OCLC symbol. It was pleasure dealing with them recently when we needed
to borrow a divorce accounting book.
