Vacancies for Director of Public Services, Electronic Services
Librarian, and 2 Public Services Librarians

Tarlton Law Library is hoping to fill four professional vacancies in the
very near future, and this notice is sent in the hope that all who
read it will help us by either applying for the position that interests you
and/or passing along the notice to energetic librarians with strong skills
who may be interested in applying for the position(s). We would also
appreciate any suggestions you may have about people we should contact

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICES: Responsible for all public services functions
of the library, including coordinating the work of reference, circulation,
reserve, and various special collections (government documents,
foreign/international law, media, rare books/archives) and interlibrary
loan. Directs the faculty liaison program and the library's portion of the
legal research and writing instruction program for first-year students. The
Director must also be a leader in developing the collections. May also teach
one of the law library's many one-hour legal research offerings for law
students. REQUIRED: JD/MLS/law library experience.

ELECTRONIC RESOURCES LIBRARIAN: Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and
recommending resources available through non-traditional means such as the
Internet and CD-ROM. Also responsible for training in use of these
resources by faculty, staff, and students. Reviews, negotiates, and makes
recommendations concerning licensing agreements for electronic resources.
Maintains Law Library's Web site. Works with others to integrate use of
appropriate electronic resources into Law Library's
collections and services. May share reference, faculty liaison, and other
public service responsibilities. REQUIRED: MLS; law library experience;
knowledge of a variety of software and Web publication methods. PREFERRED:
MLS/JD.

PUBLIC SERVICES LIBRARIAN (2 vacancies): Responsible for public services
functions, including providing reference assistance and bibliographic
instruction to users, writing guides to the collections, etc. We are looking
for librarians who will take a leadership role in developing new programs
and services. Depending upon qualifications and skills, successful
candidates will be given one or more of the following specific
responsibilities in addition to general public services: collection
development; teaching upper-class students who train
first-year students in legal research; assisting with exhibits and with the
publications program. REQUIRED: MLS; law library experience. PREFERRED:
MLS/JD.
