David--
You would have to check 2 places: the first is Position Classification
Standards for General Schedule Positions, published by OPM. Librarians
are position 1410; technicians are 1411; Technical Information
Specialists are 1412. The current standards adopted in 1994 provide
grades beginning at GS-9 and going to GS-15.
To determine GS salary range, you would have to check _Salary Table 98,
Executive Branch of Government_ to determine pay range. I believe the
salaries are all on OPM's website.
So far as I know, there is nothing in the 1410 standard that
differentiates a law librarian from any other type of librarian.
The courts, where presumably the majority of federal law librarians would
work, do not use the GS pay schedule. I know nothing of that salary
schedule.
