Ads for Items already owned -Publisher's reply

About a week or two ago I posed a question to the publishers who
follow this list about receiving ads for items we already owned.
I have had a reply from Matthew Bender. Mr. Thomas Rigsby has
replied and graciously allowed me to post his reply to the list. Now we
know some of the reasons this occurs.
        Here is his reply:

Dear Ms. Simpson,
As far as Matthew Bender mailings are concerned, current
subscribers
are purged from the mailing lists for all product specific
campaigns.
Current subscribers to a specific product should not receive a
promotional mailing for that same product unless they have multiple

accounts (with a different customer name or address for each
account)
OR if the mailing uses a rented outside list that was only
available
on labels. Current subscribers can not be electronically purged
from
purchased labels. In spite of our best efforts to avoid the
situation
you described in your posting, current subscribers may receive an
unintended mailing. However, this should be the exception rather
than
     the rule.
