I need expert law-lib help locating a copy of a Korean statute for which
we have a partial cite. The statute has to do with judicial assistance and
requires that service of process be done pursuant to a letter rogatory
transmitted through diplomatic channels. The partial cite we have is:
Korean Judicial Assistance Civil Affairs Public Law #12. The L.A.
County Law Library has the statutes, but they are in Korean, and 1) none
of the librarians reads Korean, and 2) the Library does not allow patrons
back in the stacks where they are kept. What we need is a more
complete cite.
I have contacted the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs, the Korean
Consulate in L.A. and D.C. (and various branches off those trees), and
the Legal Research Institute in Korea, but no one has the info we need
(or they don't return my calls).
If you have any other ideas for leads, or you can provide a more
complete cite to this law I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks very much for your assistance.
