[Fwd: Beware--"Aspenizing"]

Hi,
Does anyone remember when the publishers changed from hardbound "first
editions" to post looseleaf binders. It probably was in the '50s or
'60s. This may be addressed by the FTC Guidelines (which were prompted
by a different problem about binders).

I agree with Jeffrey Berns and Kathy Carlson that subscribers to Casner's Estate Planning should not have to pay twice for a 6th edition volume because the second time around a publisher converts from a hardbound volume to a binder. I wonder if the folks from the Committee on Relations with Information Vendors could help those of us who object to this practice with guidance on the most effective ways to lodge a complaint with Aspen Publishers as a group. Each subscriber could complain individually but I believe our impact is greater if we make a concerted effort. Each subscriber could file a written complaint with CRIV but our invoices might be months past due before we get anywhere. Assuming there are others out there who object to paying twice, I wonder if there is a way for CRIV to become involved so that we may resolve this as a group before too much time passes.
