Re: Updating AALL Publication Series No. 45. Sourcebook for Law Library
Governing Boards and Committees.
During the July, 1997 Annual meeting, Gail Warren, SCCLL Chair, appointed
Regina Smith and Charles Dyer as co-chairs of the Trustee Developments
Committee. Also on the committee are Jean Holcomb, Kay Newman and myself.
The committee has several projects lined up for the coming year, including
updating the Sourcebook for Law Library Governing Boards and Committees
(AALL Publication Series No. 45).
The library world has changed dramatically since the Sourcebook's original
publication in 1994. Consequently, the committee is asking SIS members to
make suggestions concerning new areas of interest for addition to the
publication. Topics already slated for possible inclusion are:
· personnel issues;
· employee discipline;
· employee skill levels and training;
· credit card use;
· borrower fees;
· database searching policies;
· Internet use and policies;
· use of technology.
These are just a few of the ideas that the committee had in Baltimore. We
are interested in any additional subjects or topics that you feel should be
included. Also, let me know if you would like to see sections of the
current Sourcebook enhanced and/or expanded. If you are willing to share
examples of your library's work product, please include that in your
correspondence to me. Thank you all for your assistance.
