                        POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
                     Head of Technical Services
               Rutgers Law School Library, Newark, NJ
                           March 18, 1998

DUTIES: Supervises all operations of the Technical Services
department, including ordering, receiving, processing, cataloging,
and routing of books, serials, and other library materials, and
retrospective conversion of card catalog records to on-line records.
Supervises staff of six.

Administers the library's integrated automated system.

Participates in law faculty liaison program and some reference.
                                                            
REQUIREMENTS: M.L.S.; at least three years of relevant experience,
including at least one year in a supervisory capacity.

Must be familiar with: current Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, MARC
formats, on-line bibliographic utilities, integrated library on-line
systems, and American legal publications. Good communication skills
and interpersonal skills are required.

Familiarity with the RLIN system and Innovative Interfaces systems
preferred.

TERMS: Full-time, calendar year, tenure-track appointment; standard
academic fringe benefits, 22 days vacation.

Once known as "the People's Electric Law School," recently the
filming location of a major motion picture, and now constructing a
brand-new building (Fall 1999 occupancy), Rutgers-Newark will
