I think some missed the point of the "dumb question" request. From the
examples that were given I took the request to be about misconceptions
about our jobs from attorneys, bosses, and others, not about questions from
patrons. Years ago when I told my cousin that I was a law librarian she
said, "Oh, that must be a nice quiet job." Well, no, it's busy, and
sometimes frantic. I also have been questioned about needing a Masters to
shelve or check-out books. They are "dumb" questions because people don't
understand what we do. They do, however, provide a good opportunity for
education. And like all questions, dumb or not, we do our best to answer
them.
