My first law library job was for a 45 attorney firm that had never had a
Librarian before. There was no catalog, no budget, and the "Library"
was a series of hallways lined with books. The position was 20 hours a
week, with no assistant. After a couple of days on the job, one of the
partners asked me "do you have enough to do?"
