Call for Nominations for the O.James Werner Award for Distinctive
Service to Persons with Disabilities
The State, Court & County Law Libraries Special Interest Section awards
program includes a series of triennial awards presented at its annual
meeting. They are the Bethany J. Ochal Award for Distinguished Service
to the Profession, the O. James Werner Award for Distinguished Service
to Persons with Disabilities and the Connie E. Bolden Publications Award.
This year, nominations are being accepted for the O. James Werner
Award for Distinctive Service to Persons with Disabilities for
presentation at the State, Court, and County Law Libraries SIS meeting in
Anaheim in July, 1998. The award is presented to a member of the
SCCLL-SIS who has made a significant contribution to serving directly or
for arranging services to be provided to persons with disabilities.
Among the criteria to be considered are the following:
-Membership in the State Court and County SIS of AALL
-Contributions to the professional literature about serving persons with
disabilities
-Significant outreach efforts to increase the awareness of the needs of
those with disabilities so that they may better access legal information
-Significant service directly to persons with disabilities to improve their
access to legal information
The Awards Committee welcomes nominations for the O. James Werner
Award from AALL members and any member of the constituency that
the nominee has served. In placing a person's name in nomination,
please include the following information:
1. Full name and current address of the nominee
2. Current and past employment of the nominee
3. Short narrative explaining why you believe your nominee should
receive this award
4. Your name, address and telephone number in case the committee
needs additional information
