In that
area, you might explore a device I've seen in the catalog for the American
Printing House for the Blind. You put a book under it and it displays the
page much magnified on a monitor. I have no personal experience with this
device and low vision people so I don't know how well it works.
I have seen this device in use, and it is very good. The size of the text can be adapted, and the viewer also has the option of looking at black print on white or white print on black. (Often the image reverse is easier to read for those with vision difficulties.) I don't know who makes these machines, but as far as I could tell they worked very well.
