We have been asked about the mining codes and regulations in English for
three African countries: Guinea, Niger and Burkina Faso. I checked Foreign
Law: Current Sources of Codes and Legislation in Jurisdictions of the World
which says they are available in the Barrows publication Mining Legislation.
However, the user called the publisher and was told that the legislation is
only available in French. She was told that the name of the legislation in
Guinea is Mining Code and that it is Ordonnance 76, dated March 21, 1986.
The regulations are Ordonnance 77, also dated 1986. Niger also has a Mining
Code which came out in 1993 with regulations from the same year. I don't
know the exact name of the Burkina Faso legislation.
Does anyone know more about these codes and regulations? Do we have a
chance of getting them in English?
Thanks in advance, and please excuse the cross-posting of this message.
