Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply to my plea for help! A
detailed entry in Webster's New Geographical Dictionary concludes that
Jamaica would be "part" of North America. Several helpful responses pointed
out that Jamaica is an island, and therefore not part of any continent, but
our question arose out of the use of the terms "North America" and "South
America" and whether Jamaica could be considered to be included in those
terms.

I really appreciate all the help I received -- without even leaving my desk
or picking up the phone!
