New Year, New NYS Rules

Several new court rules and procedures took effect in NYS on January 1.
The rules below have been posted on the New York Law Journal’s site
(http://www.nylj.com):

All NY lawyers are now required to post the Statement of Client’s Rights
in their law offices. The text of the Statement is at:

A new CPLR Section 306-b gives judges the authority to extend the
existing 120-day period for service of a summons and complaint in civil
actions. The revised text is at: http://www.nylj.com/links/cplr.html

New NYC Housing Court procedures take effect today, including master
calendar calls this week and next for all cases that currently have a
trial date. A full description of the changes is at:
