I was overjoyed to discover that the California Compensation Cases were added to LEXIS. It saves me a half hour trip to the county law library for what is usually a two-page decision. The problem is the currency of this file. Two months ago, I contacted LEXIS customer service regarding why this file was current only through March 1997. I was told that LEXIS processes and adds new decisions as soon as they are received from Matthew Bender. I prodded the LEXIS folk to see if they could reduce the timelag and they said they would pass the request down the line. Seven months is excessive in this modern age, IMHO.
I just checked to see if anything has changed and am dismayed to report that things pretty much remain at status quo. The file is now current through July, 1997 or is now only five months out-of-date. An improvement to be sure but still, it is five months out-of-date. LEXIS and Bender, what can you do to get some teamwork going here? Your customers want/need the stuff!
