Unpaid Invoice Question

Good morning and Happy New Year!

I have a question about a situation that I have not encountered before and am looking for your suggestions and thoughts. Earlier this fall I received a private response to a request that I had posted on law-lib. The response was a request for copies of pages from a book which the asker said that they could not locate. I responded with a couple of suggestions for locating the material. The requester asked if I would get the book and fax the pages. I agreed to take the time to help if the requester would pay all the direct costs involved in this request. I have only a first name, e-mail address, and fax number for this request. I have not yet received reimbursement for this request and have not received any response to my one e-mail reminder that payment was due.

The amount due ins not large, but I guess that I feel foolish for not having more information about the requester and annoyed that I have spent additional time and energy trying to track down this person. Also I wonder if I should warn others with more specifics about the requester so that they do not make the same mistake. One more thought I have ( after years of working in a law firm) concerns the legal ramifications of posting information that I have about this request on a list such as law-lib. I'm sorry that this message is so long. I would welcome your thoughts and comments.

Thanks,
Nell
