Colleagues, recently an attorney asked if I could find a quotation based on
the following recollection of an English colleague. We have looked in all the
usual quotation books without success. The quotation make by a "senior legal
officer or certainly a well-known lawyer in the U.S. probably many years ago.
He went on record as saying something to the effect that it was better to be
torn limb from limb, have your property taken over by someone else and your
house burnt to the ground than to take a legal matter to Court." i.e., in no
circumstances should one allow a dispute to reach the American Courts. Does
this ring any bells with anyone? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
