We received a very large box from Aspen Publishers yesterday afternoon.
When we opened it, we found a set of replacement binders, contents
*and* CD-ROMs for our Hospital Law Manual subscription.
I called customer service about returning the CD-ROMs and what portion
of subscription pricing Aspen allocated for them.
The rep told me that this is a "new package". Subscribers get both
formats from now on, and no, we can't get a credit/discount/price
break/label for returning them. Aspen isn't surcharging us for them.
They're included in the $995 price, a discount for getting both. "??"
I pointed out (she did NOT believe me even after I read from copies) our
June 1996 renewal cost $900. Our July renewal this year cost $924. $995
for 1998 doesn't strike me as a "discount".
Maybe this is the result of teaching New Math ?
