This is a response I got from our cataloging librarian, Gordon Pew. Have a good
day.

Hi Yale,

Sorry I didn't respond earlier, but I only know of a handful of book
jobbers (like Baker & Taylor and Yankee Book Peddler) that will provide
catalog cards with the books they supply. And I understand that not all the
cataloging information they supply is really LC cataloging: some of it is
done inhouse by the jobbers' staffs. So I, for one, wouldn't trust these
catalog cards. And, no, I have not heard of publishers/jobbers who supply
*online* bibliographic records for the books they publish/distribute.
A library would, as far as I know, have to turn to OCLC, RLIN, or some other
bibliographic utility for electronic cataloging records.

Hello from Sunny San Diego...

Having completed our first ever inventory, and having purchased our first
ever library cataloging database, I am no looking forward to "populating"
that database by importing MARC records. Our library has never been
cataloged in any fashion and we have no records or original cataloging of
our own. We are not, as yet, subscribers to OCLC, MARCIVE or any other
fine provider of such records.

Do y'all know if publishers --in their kinder moments-- ever supply such
records. If so, which publishers? And how would I go about getting them
from the publishers?

I think that's my allotted three questions for the day!
