San Diego County Libbers Only

This is directed to San Diego County Law Librarians only (and to anyone
else who might be interested).

Wheew. I have just completed the first ever volume count of our collection
and we weigh in at 69,851, not counting superseded or outdated materials
(of which we have plenty!). As I was counting, I was sure we had a
hundred-thousand! The majority of our titles are serials.

I am preparing a report for my Supervisor and would like to be able to
illustrate it with comparisons, so that she can get an idea of what 69,851
means. Ultimately, I will be making a recommendation as to whether to
engage the services of a full-time librarian. I think you know what I will
recommend, but it would be a big help to know if there are any comparable
collections out there in our range, and the level of staffing one should
expect for such materials. Presently, our level of staffing is one
administrative clerk (and me).

I hope you all had a pleasant T-day. Thanks in advance for your responses.
