The following is a position announcement is posted for the William S.
Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas:

UNLV-William S. Boyd School of Law

THE SETTING: UNLV is a premier urban university located in the vibrant
city of Las Vegas and is surrounded by the Mojave Desert. UNLV is the
state's largest comprehensive, doctoral degree granting institution with
20,000 students and more than 600 full-time faculty. UNLV provides
traditional and professional academic programs for a diverse student body
and encourages innovative and interdisiplinary approaches to teaching,
learning and scholarship.

HEAD OF TECHNICAL SERVICES-LAW LIBRARY

RESPONSIBILITIES-The William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of
Nevada, Las Vegas seeks an enthusiastic and experienced technical
services law librarian to serve as the founding Head of Technical
Services to participate in the creation of a first-rate academic law
library.
 The Head of Technical Services will be responsible for establishing and
administering the technical services department, which will include
acquisition, serials, cataloging, bindery, and preservation functions for
a new academic law library. Specific duties will include establishing
department policies and procedures, in consultation with the Director and
Assiciate Director; hiring, training, and evaluating the technical
services staff; participating in the development and implementation of
the library's collection development program; acting as the law library's
liaison with the University main library technical services department;
acting as the law library contact with publishers and vendors; cataloging
material in all formats; and undertaking other projects as assigned by
the Director and Associate Director. The Head of Technical Services may
be asked to participate in the provision of reference service to library
patrons as well.

QUALIFICATIONS-MLS from an ALA accredited program; a minimum of three
years experience in law library technical services, preferably in an
academic law library; thorough knowledge of library serials and
acquisitions processes and LC and SUDOC cataloging practices, AACR2, and
MARC format; substantial familiarity with integrated library systems,
preferably INNOPAC, and online bibliographic utilities, preferably OCLC;
thorough knowledge of legal bibliography and legal publishing;
supervisory experience; strong interpersonal and team building skills.

SALARY RANGE-Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
