After reading several messages in the charge-for-training
thread started by Kimberly Gazzo, I'm confused.
I thought she said that West was going to start charging for
*CD-ROM* training. However, several of the responses seem to
imply that it is *WESTLAW* training that is under attack.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm no big fan of the new
West-Thomson giant and its highly-touted "customer service,"
but let's get our facts straight before flying off the handle.
I've not heard of any plans to start charging for Westlaw
training, although I do know that our account reps are under
pressure from above to cut costs and justify their existence.
Just curious -- has anyone seen a marked decrease in their
Westlaw usage in the last year? If so, what do you think is
the cause? Service issues? Competition? Increased use of
other media like CD's? Other factors?
For that matter, how has Lexis fared?
