CROSS POSTED to STATECOURTCOUNTYLAWLIB-L; sorry for any duplication.

The Minnesota State Law Library is trying to persuade our Court that we need
to devote a position to planning for and implementing "information
technology" in the library (as opposed to continuing to handle it by
distributing extra duties among the existing staff). Here is how we have
described the major duties of this person to our Court.

     a. to develop and start to implement a new five year strategic plan
for the
Law Library with a particular focus on the evolution of the
collection and
          the impact of information technology,

     b. to maintain and develop the Law Library's web site and case
archive,

     c. to monitor and facilitate the transfer of the law library's online
catalog to
System X, the State mandated information system, and

     d. to develop and implement a systematic education and training
program
for staff and library users to ensure efficient and effective use
of
information technology such as CD-ROM and the Internet.

HERE IS THE QUESTION - do you have a person OR are you planning to add or
assign a person to handle responsibilities similar to those listed above
(devoting at least 3/4th of their time to this job)?

Please respond to me and I will summarize for the list. Thank you.
