New Horizons: AALL's 91st Annual Meeting in Anaheim
May 15, 1997. Anaheim, California will be the location for the American
Association of Law Libraries' (AALL) 91st Annual Meeting, July 11-16,
1998.
The theme for the Anaheim meeting is "New Horizons," referring to law
librarians' constant learning and adapting to ever-changing realities or
"horizons," and the opportunities these realities offer.
Inspired by this theme, the Annual Meeting Program Selection Committee
(AMPSC) has reorganized the meeting schedule in a new, exciting format.
Each day will focus on one of four topics--Management, Information,
Technology, and Law--and feature a prestigious keynote speaker
addressing that day's topic.
In addition, AMPSC has created The Program Planner's Handbook. This
Handbook contains guidelines for developing program proposals, as well
as program submission forms. The Handbook has already been mailed to
all Chapter Presidents, AALL Committee Chairs, SIS Chairs and those
responsible for educational programming on the SIS level, and additional
copies are available from AALL Headquarters, 312/939-4764.
Program proposal forms, workshop proposal forms, and request for
proposal forms for six specific programs are available for downloading
from Meetings & Events Page on AALL's Web site, AALLNET
(http://www.aallnet.org)
AMPSC has also created a listserv for the exchange of information
related to Anaheim educational programming. To subscribe, send e-mail
to: Listserv@aall.wuacc.edu. Leave the subject line blank and type the
following in the body of the message: subscribe AnaheimEdProg Firstname
Lastname. To post messages, send e-mail to:
AnaheimEdProg@aall.wuacc.edu.
Anaheim is the home of Disneyland and sunshine and is in the middle of
some of Southern California's most breathtaking scenery, from oceans and
mountains to deserts and valleys. Popular wisdom holds that everything
new begins in California and works its way around the world. It is,
therefore, the perfect site the 1998 AALL Annual Meeting and "New
Horizons" for law librarians.
