COLEMAN KARESH LAW LIBRARY
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA

This full-time, tenure-track position reports to the Director
of the Law Library. The position is responsible for all computer
operations in the Law Library, including: maintenance and
management of the Law Library's CD-ROM server and the Law
Library's web server; supervision of all maintenance and support of
Law Library staff and public PCs and peripherals; and strategic
planning and implementation of all technological programs for the Law
Library such as preparation of long-range computer plans, policy
development, recommendations for new hardware and software purchases,
and enhancements and upgrades of hardware and software. With the transfer
of the computer lab to the Law Library, this position will be responsible
for management of all lab functions and for supervision of all lab personnel.
This position also will play a major role in developing training programs for
law students in the use of electronic legal research tools and participate in the
training. The position will also provide training and support for Law Library
staff and Law School faculty and staff in software applications. This position
will coordinate intra-networking with the Law School's director of computing
services. The position will provide reference service, participate in Law
Library materials selection, and participate on Law Library, Law School,
and University committees. Some evening and weekend hours will be
required.

Qualifications:
MLS and ALA-accredited library school. Law library experience or
experience with electronic legal materials. Experience with Novell, Windows 95,
Windows NT, Windows for Workgroups, and DOS. Familiarity with CD-ROM
servers, hardware setup and software applications used in law libraries.
Experience in an academic law library and legal reference work preferred. Public
services orientation and training ability as well as technical expertise required.
