Hello:

I am posting this request for a colleague that works as a reference
librarian at a local college. A faculty member is searching for
biographical information on Robert Rockmore, a New York City attorney
practicing in the 1930s--1950s. He is noted for being Paul Robeson's lawyer
and manager and as a prominent entertainment industry lawyer. He was
married to Clara Rockmore, a well-known virtuoso on the theremin, an
electronic musical instrument. (This is the only internet reference to
Robert Rockmore).

The reference librarian searched standard biographical sources with limited
success. A biography on Robeson mentioned Rockmore only in passing.
Rockmore died in Jan./Feb. 1963 but an obit. is not available from the New
York Times as there was a strike at the paper during that period.

A Westlaw search turned up two New York state appellate opinions that listed
him as counsel on the cases. During the early 1940s (the time frame for the
two cases) Rockmore was associated with the firm Barron, Rice & Rockmore of
NYC. Our library retains Martindale-Hubbell for just the most recent five
years.

My colleague would appreciate any assistance that could be provided by this
list. You can respond in care of me if any information is available. Thank
you.
