disaster plans

1. It is important to locate recovery services now. If there is water
damage, the materials need to be quickly freeze-dried. You don't want to be
looking in the yellow pages on the day of the disaster. The crew that
worked in my wife's medical library in Western North Carolina worked out of
Atlanta, Georgia.

2, Take a careful look at the library now to find any vulnerabilities. The
fire in the medical library was started by a book thrown into the outside
book drop which had an inside bin. Don't assume that no one would ever have
a reason to do it - The man who lit the fire was a disgruntled employee of
the parent organization who also liked to set fires (and they never did get
enough evidence to prove it...).
