=======================Position Announcement===========================
Golden Gate University School of Law is accepting applications for the
position of Director of the Law Library and Associate or Full Professor of
Law, a tenure-track faculty appointment.
The Director is responsible for oversight of all operations, including
budgeting, personnel management, computerization, long-range planning and
collection development for a library with a collection of 225,000 volumes
and volume equivalents, and a staff of five full-time professional
librarians (excluding the Director), seven library assistants, and various
clerical and part-time professional and paraprofessional employees. Law
teaching is possible, but not mandatory.
The Law Library serves a student body of 800, a full-time faculty of 37,
and numerous adjunct faculty; it supports the JD Program and two LLM
Programs, one in Taxation and the other in International Legal Studies.
The Library is fully automated, operates in a networked environment and
houses its own computer lab, in addition to separate CALR labs. The Law
Library is a charter member of the Consortium of Academic Law Libraries,
San Francisco.
Qualifications: Candidates for the Director position must hold JD and MLS
degrees from accredited institutions and have demonstrated progressively
responsible experience in law library administration. Experience in the
development and implementation of major technology programs is strongly
preferred. The successful candidate should possess a strong service
orientation, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and a
dynamic vision of the future role of law libraries.
