I'll add to this discussion only a few thoughts which may be of no use.
Without a doubt we are a profession composed of some people with more
degrees than a thermometer and some with few degrees. Arguably some
things divide us. Some things unite us. The thing I've always found
uniting us law librarians is that we all work in law libraries. I've
talked with many law librarians over my 20 some years in the profession
-- some with no professional degrees, some with all the degrees
imaginable. I have always found I had lots in common with others who
work in law libraries and I always learned something by talking with
these colleagues, no matter what type of law library they work in or what
position they hold in their law library. I hope we will jealously guard
this one major unifying factor -- working in a law library.
