POSITION: Associate Law Librarian, Law Library, Cornell University Library

Cornell Law Library is looking for a dynamic, innovative and flexible person
for the position of Associate Law Librarian. The position reports to the
Director of the Law Library.

Cornell Law Library is a large academic research library on the cutting edge
of creative library endeavors, which combines excellent collections of
Anglo-American, foreign and international law with growing access to
electronic information sources. Professional development activities are
strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities: Day-to-day administration of large academic research law
library; coordinate departmental and interdepartmental library activities in
the following areas: collection development, public and technical services,
web and other information technology activities, rare books and
preservation. Assist Law Librarian with general administration of the
library, including budget, personnel, library policies and long-range
planning. Help steer all activities and functions to support the vision and
mission of the Law Library and the Law School. Represent the Law Library at
Cornell University Library Committee meetings. Participate in providing
reference and research services and instruction, including a credit-course
in legal research . Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications: JD from ABA accredited school; MLS or equivalent graduate
degree; six to eight years relevant experience including a minimum of five
years law library experience; increasingly responsible positions in large
research libraries; strong supervisory, organizational and administrative
skills; proven ability to work with faculty, library staff, and law
students; strong communications and interpersonal skills; proven writing
skills; solid sense of teamwork and service; dedication to continuing
development of academic law library services for research-oriented faculty
and students. Experience with and thorough knowledge of the use of
information technologies in libraries. Demonstrated creative leadership,
communication, interpersonal skills, and change management skills.
Commitment to professional continuing development including relevant
contributions to librarianship.
