Credentials debate

I am one of those who "fell into law librarianship" - I had public
school certification, but the first job I found was a support staff
position here and I enrolled in library school. It has been the
best career move I could have made. But don't knock Children's Lit. -
it has been the best training I've had (better than any education
classes) for being in front of a group and I have benefitted from that
in many areas of professional and community life.
I've always thought that instead of master's comps, they should give
a test of 100 acronyms and if you got a percentage of them you could
have your degree.
