My two cents:
With all this discussion of MLS v non-MLS librarians, I just thought
that it should be noted that even with an MLS, some people are just
not good librarians. Having a degree doesn't mean that that person
would automatically make a great librarian who can do it all, there
needs to be something else, something that can't be learned in
library school, such as a good personality, a thirst for knowledge,
the ability to listen well, amoung other things.
I do agree that librarians shoud have the qualifications for the job
but remember that the person and their ability should count for more
than a piece of paper.
